This year, in commemoration of the 50th anniversary of resumption of diplomatic relations between Poland and Japan, the OEFF will be hosting from Nov. 3rd to Nov. 25th at Umeda Sky Building 40F an exhibition of over 70 storyboard drawings made by the most prominent Polish film director Andrzej Wajda over the last 40 years in preparation for his films and theater plays.
The director donated a collection of nearly one hundred original works to East Japan Railway Worker’s Union JREU and Japan Confederation of Railway Worker’s Unions JRU thanks to which a Japanese language school was built on the premises of the Centre of Japanese Art and Technology “Manggha” in Krakow.
The exhibition will show Wajda’s drawings for films like “Ashes and Diamonds”, “The Chronicle of Amorous Incidents” or “Holy Week”, as well as for theatre plays like “The Wedding” or “Nastasja”, which was shown both in Tokyo and Osaka.
