A sextet of short films depict scenes from Parisian life. Each film was shot on 16mm film by a series of influential nouvelle vague directors. The title of each chapter was taken from a famous street, area or landmark in Paris.
In Jean Douchet’s Saint-Germaine-des-Pres an American girl is taken for a ride by a French playboy.
Jean Rouch’s Gare du Nord is a 15 minute continuous take following a young French girl and her meeting with a mysterious stranger.
The comedic Rue Saint-Denis by Jean-Daniel Pollet sees an experienced prostitute ridicule her naïve customer.
Eric Rohmer’s segment, Place de l’Ètoile, concerns a fight between a salesman and a tramp.
Montparnasse-Levallois, contributed by Jean-Luc Godard, finds a man involved in an imaginary ménage-a-trois.
Lastly the Hitchcockian La Muette by Claude Chabrol follows a family man entangled in a web of trouble when he buys himself a pair of ear-plugs.
