This teen drama takes a harsh look at the residents of a rehabilitation centre for troubled young adults where the guests are allowed to stay for up to thirty days to help put their lives back into order.

The population of the shelter has each suffered from social dysfunction and alienation and they all have their own hard luck story to tell. Most are runaways, some are victims of domestic violence, incest and rape and now some are showing violent, criminal tendencies of their own. The refuge’s dedicated staff struggle overcome challenges that run beyond their control but despite the high level of volatility of their lives, the residents also find solidarity in the circumstances.

The second film from director Ine Schenkkan, Tough is based on the bestselling book and subsequent play by Yvonne Keuls. Erik Arens shines as an introverted punk who only reveals his true self to his pet rabbit.
