A selection of Japanese and German short films by young local directors looking at varying perspectives of the sister cities of Hamburg & Osaka.
The films explore the contrasting landscapes and inhabitants of the two towns creating a kaleidoscopic vision across a range of cinematic styles; from human drama and social-realist works to documentary and fantasy pieces. Amongst the films is the longer Japanese work Nikotokoto, a metaphysical tale shot in black & white meditating on life’s eternal mysteries.
Following the screening, there will be a joint discussion with Dairiki Takuya & Takashi Miura, co-directors of Nikotokoto. They will be accompanied on stage by Alexandra Gramatke, the producer of the Hamburg International Short Film Festival and managing director of Kurz Film Agentur Hamburg.
