Camiel is hit by Simon in his car and this sets off their unique friendship. Its clear from the outset that these two main characters are very different. Camiel is gay and reasonably serious; running an Amsterdam coffee shop, Simon on the other hand is blunt, offensive, cheats on his girlfriend, but possess charisma and a sense of humour that make him impossible not to like.
Their friendship evolves and Camiel is embraced by Simons close knit group of friends. Simon and Camiel’s companionship suffers a set back and they meet again after 14 years of separation. Camiel is now a practicing dentist living with his husband and Simon now has terminal cancer with months to live.
Their friendship is effortlessly rekindled and Camiel is again surrounded by a warm circle of friends. Only this time they are together to spend the last precious moments with the person that brings them all together..
