Returning to his native village in Northern Sweden to live with his younger brother Leif after a brutal shooting incident in Stockholm, Erik, a veteran police officer, starts to work in the local police force. His experience in the city has made him a hero among his old friends.

But life in the village has changed while he has been away and Erik, changed also by city life, is unable to adjust to the tacit rules peculiar to rural existence. Angered to learn that the local police are turning a blind eye to the killing of Laplander reindeer by a gang, he decides to bring the killers to justice single-handedly. Learning that Leif is the gang’s ringleader, Eric realizes that his old peaceful home is becoming the most dangerous place of all for him...
