A conflict between two worlds and between two men. A young woman searching for her own way of life between security and anarchy, opera and modern music, order and chaos.
Talented and disciplined, Claudia is on the verge of a successful career as an opera singer. She has no time for adventures. She is taking singing lessons with a well-known teacher in preparation for an important singing competition. She is supported emotionally as well as financially by her lover, Stephen, who would like to start a music agency – with Claudia as his first singer.
The theft of her purse and the loss of a red shoe changes Claudia’s life completely. The shoe is found by Paul.
Paul is unconventional and creative – a sculptor, photographer and artist. At the crossroads in her career, Claudia moves out of Stephen’s place and in with Paul to enjoy a new love life. Her regular practice is disrupted and she stops making progress to the fury of her teacher. The date for the singing competition fast approaches.
Paul’s and Claudia’s two different lifestyles clash: the one laissez-faire, the other very disciplined. Claudia practices in trains, toilets, and graveyards but this insecure, chaotic life starts to take away her breath. She is pulled back and forth between her singing career and her love.
